Sweet Potato and Chickpea Stew

Sød kartoffel/kikærte gryde

Level: Easy
Servings: 1-2 servings
Age: From 6 months+

Ingredients

  • 50 g chickpeas (dried or canned)
  • 1/2 sweet potato
  • A little fresh basil
  • 1 tsp fat per serving
  • A little cooking water
  • Breast milk or formula as needed

Instructions

Rinse the chickpeas if using canned chickpeas.

If using dried chickpeas, soak them for 12 hours, drain, and cook according to package directions.

Peel the sweet potato, cut it into cubes, and boil until tender.

Blend the chickpeas, sweet potato, fresh basil, and a little cooking water, then boil/simmer for approx. 5 minutes. Remember to stir the mash regularly to prevent it from burning.

Add breast milk or formula until you have the desired consistency for your baby.

Add 1 tsp of fat.

A delicious lunch or dinner for baby.

If there are any leftovers of the mash, they should be discarded. It must not be reheated as it contains fresh herbs.

SERVING SUGGESTIONS:

🥣 Blend the food if you want a completely smooth purée. Add fat and milk to the portion you serve to your baby.

🥄 If your baby is learning to eat food with a coarser texture, use a fork to mash the food.

👌🏼 Feel free to serve it as finger food (from 6 months). From 6-8 months, you can offer the potatoes boiled or baked and cut into sticks. You should flatten the chickpeas with a finger before serving them. From 9-12 months, you can offer the potatoes cut into small bite-sized pieces. The chickpeas should still be flattened with a finger.

In Klub Mini, you'll find inspiration on how to serve finger food to your baby in the FINGER FOOD GALLERY.

💧 Let your child practice drinking from a cup during the meal.

❄️ The mash can be stored in the refrigerator for about 1 day. It is suitable for freezing in smaller portions. But wait to add formula or breast milk to the food you are freezing.
